Walk My Way Gold Coast

UPDATE: The COVID-19 challenge means we must postpone the Gold Coast Walk My Way.

The good news is you can instead do Walk Your Way!

Soak up the sun, sizzle the snags - and step out in love to help others!

Join us for Walk My Way on the Gold Coast!

What makes Walk My Way Gold Coast special?

  1. A 26km Walk from St Andrews Lutheran College, Tallebudgera, to Rainbow Bay.
  2. Enjoy mangrove boardwalks, world-renowned views, and beautiful parklands. You may even spot a koala or bearded dragon!
  3. We feed you! Breakfast + sausage sizzle + sweet surprise.
  4. Bring your church and school communities together in a fun and meaningful way.
  5. You'll be helping refugee children in East Africa go to school!

What does the day look like?

We'll give you a hearty breakfast at St Andrew's Lutheran College, followed by an opening ceremony.

Then it's time to get walking!

You’ll walk through beautiful bush and parkland, home to a variety of wildlife. There are drink and toilet stops along the way, plus a longer stop for lunch.

We'll have plenty of marshalls along the trail to help you stay on track.

There’ll be buses to take you to and from the start and finish (including Palm Beach, if you decide to do a shorter Walk), so you can leave your car at either end.

You can even bring a team of students and teachers from your school, or a group from your church. What a great way to bring your church and school communities together to help others!

Sounds great. How can I join the Walk?

Simply click on the red Register button above and complete the form.

Online registration will close at 9am on the day before the Walk, but you can still register in person at St Andrew's Lutheran College from 6am on the morning of the Walk.

How much does it cost?

It's $50 for an Adult, $20 for a Child, and $100 for a Family (up to 4 kids). All of your registration fee goes straight to helping refugee children go to school.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Lutheran Laypeople's League, you'll receive a Walk T-shirt, bag sewn by former refugees, breakfast, and sausage sizzle lunch. Thank you, LLL!

What if I can't get to the Gold Coast?

There are also Walks in Melbourne, the Barossa Valley, in Albury (coming soon!)

...or you can hold your own Walk!

If you want to do a Walk at your school, church or with friends, click here to find out how.

If you want to do a Walk by yourself, click here to find out how.

Can I run instead of walk?

Yes, runners are very welcome; however, be aware that there will not be a truck to carry packs from your start location to the finish.

Run?? I can hardly walk!

If you can't walk 26km, you can walk 13km to Palm Beach - in time for lunch! Simply choose this option when you register online.

If you're not up to walking at all, there are so many other ways to participate. Sponsor a walker, sponsor a team or simply donate.

We also need lots of volunteers. Please drop us a line to find out how you can help!

I'd like to know more about the timing on the day and what I should bring.

Sure! Our Walkers' Information sheet will be available at the bottom of this page in February 2020.

What time are the buses?

We will be offering a bus shuttle service between St Andrews Lutheran College, Palm Beach, and Rainbow Bay.

The bus schedule will be available in February 2020.

Is there a bus to take me home from Rainbow Bay at the end of the walk?

Sorry, no. If you have no one to collect you from Rainbow Bay, then you can leave your car there in the morning and take the bus to the start location.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If high temperature is forecast (35 Celsius or above) or if other extreme weather conditions are forecast (lightning, gale force winds), the Walk will be cancelled. You'll be informed at the start locations, via email, SMS and Facebook.

What happens if I or a person in my group injures themselves?

There will be a First Aid officer on duty at different points along the trail and at the end. There is an emergency contact number provided. Please refer to the Walkers' Information below (available in January 2020) for what to do in an emergency.

I've got more questions...

Not a problem! Please have a look at:

If your question still isn't answered, please get in touch!
